Vrat calendar 2026

Ekadashi, Purnima, Amavasya and Pradosh dates, computed astronomically from the panchanga rather than copied from an almanac.

Ekadashi 2026

Ekadashi is the eleventh lunar day of each fortnight, kept as a fast dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It falls twice a lunar month, once in the waxing (Shukla) and once in the waning (Krishna) fortnight, so there are roughly 24 Ekadashis in a year.

Purnima 2026

Purnima is the full-moon day that closes the bright fortnight, one each lunar month. Many of the year's biggest festivals and vows, Guru Purnima, Sharad Purnima, Kartik Purnima, fall on a Purnima, and satyanarayan katha is commonly performed.

Amavasya 2026

Amavasya is the new-moon day that closes the dark fortnight, one each lunar month. It is the traditional day for honouring ancestors (shraddh, tarpan) and for Pitra-related remedies, and some Amavasyas, like Mauni and Somvati, carry special weight.

Pradosh Vrat 2026

Pradosh Vrat falls on the thirteenth lunar day (Trayodashi) of each fortnight, observed for Lord Shiva during the pradosh kaal, the twilight around sunset. Like Ekadashi it occurs twice a lunar month.
